And yeah I like to run not my fuckin problem
I started running last January, blah blah blah, I raced five times last year. This year, my first race was March 16th, on St. Patty’s. I reached a new personal best, cutting 8 whole minutes off my time by finishing this 10k in 1hr 4m 14s. This was an average 10:21 pace. This is amazing.
Now for the not so amazing part: I am injured. I trained and ran injured for this race. I knew I was injured two weeks before the race, and could run without pain or change to my running form, up until the day of the race. So I PR’d even with pain, so I’m tough.
But here’s the kicker- the injury, which is a stress fracture to my third metatarsal bone in my left foot, needs to be rested and not run on for a period of time. So, day five of not running, and it hurts. It hurts, hurts hurts. I have a half marathon- my first one- on May 19th! My first midnight 5k is at the end of april. I want to train, to become faster, but it’s such a slow process to heal. Cross training is all I can do, but seriously… I miss running. These five days off has been the longest break from running since I started Jan 8th of 2012. Ugh.
So that’s my update.kbye.
